| What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is an important technique used in a therapeutic massage. It is particularly helpful to patients after hard physical training, excessive sports and prolonged sitting activities. It helps to develop and maintain a healthy posture as it heals overused or overloaded muscles. Deep Tissue Massage treats stiff, tight, pulled and contracted muscles as well as relieves pain.

When to get a Deep Tissue Massage?

  • Muscles and tendons showing symptoms of strain
  • Sluggish, inflexible, or painful body movements

What are the benefits?

  • Alleviates muscle strain
  • Reduces emotional stress
  • Lengthens & softens muscles
  • Encourages flexibility
  • Realigns scar tissues
  • Brings balance & elasticity to the body
  • Cleanses the body and removes toxins
| What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD)?

Manual lymphatic drainage massage is a highly specialized treatment used to stimulate the flow of lymph from the affected area. MLD increases lymphatic drainage and subsequently alleviates symptoms.

What are the benefits?

  • Improves immunity
  • Relieves pain and swelling of an injury
  • Reduces stress by calming the nervous system
  • Effectively aids skin healing due to the slow gentle stretching action of MLD

Conditions treatable by MLD include but are not limited to:

  • Venous Oedema / Primary and Secondary Lymph Oedema
  • Leg Ulcers
  • Allergic & Chronic Eczema
  • Acne Vulgaris / Rosacea
  • Burns / Pre & Post Surgical Scars
  • Facial Paralysis
  • Chronic Headaches
  • Neuralgia

What to expect after MLD?

After a Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage session, you may experience an increased need to urinate soon after the treatment and for several hours thereafter. This occurs because the excess fluids that were removed from the tissues have now been processed by the kidneys and are ready to be excreted as urine. Drinking plenty of water after a MLD is necessary to replenish the fluids that were mobilized by the treatment.
